1. In order to institutionalize the reality of bringing everyone to the common platform for last 28 years, it was proposed and adopted in General Assembly of organizations and unanimously passed in the Annual General Meeting of ANA, that structure of ANA should be inclusive, representative, and democratic. Task Force is being created to implement the transformation into a federation.
2. NRNA NCC the official country chapter of NRNA ICC and NRN America supported by ANA and other regional organizations unite and become one. A MOU was reached to that effect.
3. Mahabir Pun's proposal to create North America $1 Charity Fund as ANA initiative was adopted by General Assembly. The new 1 dollar fund program will now pool contributions from many, including entertainment programs, and distribute to charities focused in Nepal. A subsequent MOU was reached between Dr. Mahabir Pun, Mr. Prem Raja Mahat, Hon. Consul and legendary artist and Mr. Simon Dhungana.
4. 2010 North America Sports Champions are - Soccer: Boston Nepali Football Club (BNFC) Basketball (Men): New York MMC Basketball (Women): Nebraska Ekta Volleyball: United Sherpa Association of NYC Golf: Sona Pemba Sherpa Table Tennis: Dhiren Gurung
5. Academy of Nepali Literature North America, the literary champions at ANA, held very successful inaugural two day program with numerous highlights including worldwide poetry competition. It was done in collaboration with International Literary Society (INLS).
6. The American Society of Nepalese Engineers (ASNEngr) and Computer Association of Nepal-USA (CAN-USA) held their Joint Annual Conference during July 03-04. On July 04, ASNEngr also held its annual membership meeting and elected a new slate of Board of Directors (Officers and Society Directors ).
7. ANA Legal Committee has embarked on to set up office with national hotline and online site within 100 days for all the community members in North America with the help of ANYA (ANA Youth).
8. Nepal Educational and Cultural Center (NECC) coordinating council has been formed that will coordinate all the Nepali temple and community center all over the U.S. It will include DC, New York, Texas, Los Angeles etc.
9. ANA has reached an understanding for new business promotion program in partnership with Nepa Pasa Pusa Amerikaye (NPPA), which also jointly conducted the business forum.
10. North America Media Club expanding in the next phase to include dozens more media houses.
11. INBS (International Biomedical Society), Boston chapter held a discussion forum titled "Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology in Nepal: Challenges and Opportunities." The panel included a diverse team of panelists. Prof. Uttam Rajbhandary convincingly argued for the need of basic science research in Nepal, Dr. Ruma Rajbhandari talked about the need of improving health facilities and training health care workers in rural areas, Dr. Shiva Gautam talked about his clinical pilot studies in heart diseases in Nepal, and Dr. Batsal Devkota shared his experience on the challenges facing biomedical entrepreneurs in Nepal, like the shortage of skilled manpower. The forum was attended by more than 60 people, and the audience participation in the time-extended discussion round illustrated a general interest in development of biomedical sciences in Nepal.
12. ANYA- ANA Youth makes debut presentation at the convention, and is going to contribute the proceeds from T Shirt Sale to the $1 Fund Program.
13. Continuity and extension of Science and Technology, Biomedical and Women's and domestic violence forum in future conventions.
14. Fashion For Nepal, for the third year, organized its ANA Fashion Extravaganza with bigger and better fanfare. Celebrities including Miss Nepal 2003 Priti Sitoula, Actress Pooja Chand, and Model/Choregrapher Prashant Tamrakar graced the show. 15. Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha School Students- North America (SEBS-NA) formed a new executive committee to be led by Mr. Hari Sharma, MA. Achievements of the outgoing team led by Mr. Roshan Shrestha, CA included installing optic fiber at Budhanilkantha School, Nepal, sponsoring >20 students through Nationwide Scholarship Program in Nepal and helping set up and run a primary school in Ramche, Nepal. SEBS-NA will continue its efforts to help Nepal primarily in the educational sector.
16. Nepal ko Yuwa (NKY) held its first annual Yuwa Bhela in US, and brought together Nepali youth, inspirational professionals and youth-led social-cause organizations working for Nepal and Nepali communities in two dynamic forums. The Yuwa Bhela will be a yearly event at ANA conventions. |
