Membership Verification Committee of ANA (MVCANA)
The Special Committee decided to appoint following persons MVCANA. The committee members are:
a. Mr. Basant Shrestha, Coordinator/ Chair
President, Academy of Nepali Literature
b. Mr. Hari K Sharma
Ex- Auditor General, ANA
c. Mr. Aek Kshatry
Auditor General, ANA
d. Mr. Anil Pathak
Ex-Treasurer, ANA
Guidelines and Framework:
1. MVCANA is formed to assist the ANA Executive Board to confirm eligibility of voters for the upcoming election of the Executive Board of ANA.
While confirming any objections about the voter's eligibility must be raised only by the candidates themselves showing cause to
the MVCANA. The MVCANA shall examine and investigate the claim submitted by the candidates against the voter and deliver
decision in majority as final the decision about such voters.
2. The General Secretary shall provide current membership lists to the MVCANA.
3. MVCANA shall carry out its mandate independently and without influence or pressure from anyone.
4. MVCANA may seek clarifications or further mandate from the Executive Board to get the task done ASAP, including but not limited
to getting technical or other professional help.
5. MVCANA will submit the final certified list of members to Executive Board which will forward it to the Election Committee. The list
submitted by the MVCANA to the executive board shall be the final list of eligible voters.
6. Members include all verifiable members of ANA, including Life and Annual Family, Individual members.
7. As per the tradition and decisions of Executive Boards covering previous election cycles, and benefit accorded officially, all
registered members of 28th ANA Convention are members for one year. MVCANA will ratify paid registrants from 28th ANA
Convention in Boston as members only with documented evidence in form of registration records, receipts or other persuasive
documents.
8. MVCANA shall give 14 days to all members (Life member excluded) to allow him/her to show proof of their membership as
determined by the committee, including paying lost receipt fee. The final 14th day to prove membership ends as determined
by the MVCANA.
9. MVCANA shall accept certified Life Members’ list provided by the Executive Board. In the event if any Life Members names are
missing in the list, he/she shall be referred to the Executive Board for verification, and once verified valid, the Executive Board shall
forward his/her name to the MVCANA. In the event of the tie, coordinator/ chair will decide the majority vote. If there is deadlock
or need further clarification Executive Board shall provide guidance.
10. All member voters shall have full address and other pertinent information needed to receive the election ballot with single
standard applicable to all members.
11. MVCANA shall carry out its task as transparently as possible (if it does not interfere with the task). MVCANA shall announce it plan
of actions, complete with milestones and deadlines. MVCANA shall commence the task immediately and update the Executive Board
of progress as much as possible.

Special Committee to Select Membership Verification Committee
Background:
The special committee to select Membership Verification Committee of ANA (MVCANA) was created in the Special ANA General Body
Meeting on May 1, 2011 with broad mandate to:
a. Create Membership Verification Committee
b. Select members of the committee
c. Give framework and guidelines to the committee
The MVCANA will certify the final members’ list to the Executive Board of ANA which will hand it over to the Election Committee, as is,
to conduct the election of the officers of ANA for the next term.

2. Dr. Kunjar Sharma; Past President, ANA
3. Mr. Tsewang Sherpalama; Chairman, ITFANA
Timeline:
a. May 1, 2011: Formation of Special Committee to select MVC
b. May 2, 2011*: First Meeting of the Special Committee
c. May 3, 2011*: MVCANA selection and framework
d. May 4, 2011*: Joint meeting with MVCANA and public announcement
