Recent Projects
  • Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC): A 3.4 acre property with a three bedroom house in metropolitan Washington DC area. Planning to build a educational and cultural center with temples dedicated to Lord Pashupatinath and Lord Buddha, a library and a community center. “Bhumi Pooja” performed on October 18, 1996. Inaugurated on September 30, 2000.
  • Annual Conventions: Hosted over 20 annual conventions on July 4th weekends starting in 1983. These conventions have attracted thousands of Nepalis living in the Americas and from abroad as well as friends of Nepal.
  • Promoting Nepali Artists: Successfully arranged and presented many nationally known artists from Nepal in its annual conventions. One of the earliest art group that ANA sponsored was “Maha Sanchar”, which presented its show in various cities in the US as well as the first Nepali show in the United Nations. Also, sponsored renowned artists such as Madan Krishna Shrestha, Haribamsha Acharya, Santosh Panta, Nabin Bhattarai, Kunti Moktan, Ram Krishna Dhakal, the Nepali Rock band 1974 AD and Nepathya. At the same time promoted amateur artists from all over the United States.
  • Nepal Heritage Night: ANA celebrated “Nepal Heritage Night” with Sir Edmund Hillary in support of NECC in 1988.
  • Publication of Nepali Cookbook: “The Nepal Cookbook” is published by Snow Lion Publications of New York. It is in its 3rd edition now and is available in major bookstores or at www.amazon.com.
  • Scholarship Fund: Held scholarships in Nepal and USA.
  • Funds for Iraqi victims: ANA collected and distributed funds to the families of the Nepali Hostages in Iraq. More than $22,500 (NRs 1, 689, 930) was collected from all over  the world and NRs 126,000 was handed out to each of the victim’s family.
  • Medical Equipments to Nepal: ANA has sent medical equipment to hospitals in Nepal.
