It all started in the early 80's, the Nepalese living in the United States opened an Association to promote and preserve the Nepali identity and culture in the Americas, foster cordial relations among Nepalese and Americans, and encourage the effective participation of Nepali Americans in the communities in which they live. One of the first projects was to write a cookbook by association members. For the first edition of the cookbook, Jyoti Pathak, headed the cookbook committee with assistance from Indira Sharma and Carolyn Sharma. The managing editors of the project were Hari Sharma and Kunjar Sharma. Their team started to organize, collect and test the Nepali recipes. The first Nepali cookbook named "Nepali Delights" with 95 recipes was self-published by the Association.
This treasury of recipes from the members of the Association of Nepalis in the Americas represents the best of authentic Nepali cuisine.
